The Teresa Jusino Experience

After only a WEEK into my Send Teresa to Gally effort that had a deadline of February 5th, I am already OVER MY GOAL! This means, not only can I afford the plane fare to get to L.A. in February, but I can afford to eat and stuff, too!

(can you tell I’m excited?)

I’m writing this post, first and foremost to say THANK YOU! First, to the Geek Girl Army that so willingly and graciously used their social networking mojo to spread the word of my effort far and wide. Thank you Jill Pantozzi, Janna O’Shea, Kristin Rielly, Amy Ratcliffe, and Kat Hill for your support, your enthusiasm, and your willingness to join forces for the sake of one lowly member of the geek girl community. Each of you is truly awesome. And as if the promotion wasn’t enough, some of you also bought copies of On The Ground Floor! I’m so grateful to know you ladies, even though I’ve yet to meet some of you in person!

I have to thank my earliest donors, who were on the bandwagon long before it was cool. 🙂 Thank you Lisa Fary, George Sirois, Arlene Dreifus, Deborah Stanish (one of my Whedonistas editors!), GeekGirlDiva, Kevin Dilmore, Melissa Kutteroff, Angela VonSchmittou, and El Tremendo, for your generosity on the very first day!

Lastly, I have to thank everyone who’s given since; some of whom have given a ridiculous amount of money to someone they don’t know all in the name of geeky solidarity. I am forever grateful to Ruth T., Abby Geiger, Norman Mirotchnick, Michael Lusby, Pema Newton, Christian Young, James Stewart, Doug Welch, and Rhea Dowhower.

I don’t know what I did to deserve all this kindness. Actually, I don’t think it had anything to do with me at all. I mean, maybe it did, but the fact is, people really are good and kindhearted if you give them a chance to be. I’ve always believed that, and my tendency is to give people the benefit of the doubt, even when the world tells me not to. It’s nice to be able to point to something like this and be able to say, “See? I told you so!” 🙂 Thank you all so much!

Now, I’m going to keep this effort going, because 1) conventions are expensive, and my friends out in L.A. may or may not be able to cart my butt around for a week, so I forsee a lot of cab/bus rides in my future, and 2) I did say this would be over February 5th. So, if you were thinking about buying a copy of On the Ground floor to support my Gallifrey One effort, YOU STILL CAN.

As an added incentive, when I get to Gallifrey, I’m going to snag two copies of Whedonistas to give away at random to two people who have donated between January 17 and February 5th. (So, yes. If you’ve already donated, you’d still be eligible!) They may even be signed by my fellow panelists, including Jane Espenson. We’ll see what I can do. 🙂

So, yes, THANK YOU for getting me to Gallifrey One. If you’re so inclined, feel free to spread the link around between now and February 5th with the knowledge that anyone who purchases a copy of On the Ground Floor by then will be entered to win one of two autographed copies of Whedonistas.

And stay tuned here at The Teresa Jusino Experience (or at my Facebook page, or Twitter) for more ramblings about the road to Gallifrey, and how anyone who’ll be in the L.A. area between February 13-20 will have the chance to see me and say hello!
